Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Ilford
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Man with Van Ilford to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our own operations and our supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing systems and controls that support this commitment.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man with Van Ilford provides local and regional transport, removals, and related logistics services. Our operations rely on a combination of directly engaged workers, subcontracted drivers, vehicle hire companies, fuel providers, equipment suppliers, and other service partners. We recognise that the logistics and transport sectors can be exposed to risks of labour exploitation, particularly through complex subcontracting and temporary labour arrangements. We therefore take active steps to reduce and manage these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations, our employees, and every organisation or individual that provides goods or services to us. No commercial objective or operational pressure justifies ignoring or minimising the risk of exploitation. Any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery is treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships, as well as reporting to the appropriate authorities where required.
Responsibilities and Governance
Overall responsibility for our anti-slavery approach rests with the company management team, which ensures that appropriate policies, procedures, and training are in place. Line managers are responsible for implementing these measures day to day, particularly when recruiting workers or engaging subcontractors. All staff and contractors are expected to familiarise themselves with this statement and to act in accordance with its principles.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We conduct proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers and subcontractors to assess the risk of modern slavery. This includes requesting information about working conditions, right-to-work checks, use of subcontracted labour, and wage payment practices. Where higher risks are identified, we may carry out targeted audits, request additional documentation, or undertake site visits. We expect suppliers to cooperate fully with requests for information and to provide clear evidence that they operate lawful and ethical labour practices.
We reserve the right to conduct follow-up audits where concerns arise or where there are material changes in a supplier’s operations. Failure to meet our standards or refusal to engage with our audits may result in corrective action plans, suspension of work, or the ending of the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We provide appropriate guidance to managers and workers involved in recruitment, subcontracting, and supplier management to help them identify signs of labour exploitation, understand reporting routes, and respond safely to concerns. We encourage a culture where ethical issues are openly discussed and where everyone understands that raising concerns is a professional responsibility.
Reporting Channels and Protection
Anyone working for or with Man with Van Ilford who has concerns about potential modern slavery or human trafficking is encouraged to report these concerns at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be raised directly with line management or senior management. Reports will be treated seriously and sensitively, and we will investigate all concerns promptly and fairly.
We do not tolerate victimisation or detrimental treatment of any person who raises a concern in good faith. Where appropriate, we will work with relevant agencies and support services to ensure that any individuals affected by exploitation are safeguarded.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that the risks of modern slavery can change over time as our business and supply chains evolve. We therefore review this Modern Slavery Statement and our associated procedures at least once every year. The annual review considers the effectiveness of our due diligence, the outcomes of any audits, the nature of any concerns raised, and developments in best practice and legal requirements.
Following each review, we will update our processes where necessary, strengthen supplier requirements, and enhance training or guidance for staff and contractors. This statement is approved by the management of Man with Van Ilford and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery in all parts of our business and supply chains.
